Saxenda Side Effects Explained
Saxenda (Liraglutide) is a daily injection for weight loss. While effective, it can cause side effects. Here is how to manage them safely.
Saxenda works by mimicking a hormone called GLP-1 that regulates appetite. Because it affects your digestive system, gastrointestinal side effects are very common, particularly when you first start treatment.
Key Fact: Most side effects are mild and usually go away within a few days or weeks as your body adjusts to the medication.

Severe Allergic Reactions
Problems breathing, swelling of face and throat, and a fast heartbeat.
Gallbladder Disease
Pain in the upper right side of your stomach, fever, yellowing of skin/eyes (jaundice).
Strategies for Daily Administration
Strict Titration
Saxenda's unique 0.6mg weekly escalation is designed specifically to mitigate nausea. Never jump doses prematurely.
Site Rotation
Continuously switch between your abdomen, thigh, and upper arm to prevent lipohypertrophy (lumps under the skin).
Timing Consistency
While food independence allows flexibility, injecting at the identical hour daily stabilizes blood concentrations and routines.
